Update-March 2020

March 10th, 2020

Half Moon Stud is now into a third decade at Motcombe.  Our time here has seen various changes and in recent years has taken a new direction.  We no longer have horses training and competing from home so are using the facilities for others to enjoy with school hire, clinics and competitions on a far more regular basis.

We still run a breeding programme though some of the stock is now based with Newton Stud (where we are awaiting ET foals out of a full sister to GB Team horse Half Moon Delphi) and we have a joint co-operation working with Court Farm Stud who produced Franka for us to take the Filly Foal Championship at the Ultimate Warmblood Breeder’s Championship 2019.  We look forward to seeing a new batch of Half Moon horses out competing in the coming years.  In the meantime, Half Moon Dark Magic, owned jointly by his rider Nicola Buchanan and Diana Reynolds-Hale is flying the flag for us at International Grand Prix.

Half Moon Dark Magic is a full brother to our former International Grand Prix mare Half Moon Dynasty and we are continuing with this line breeding from another full sister to these two successful Grand Prix horses.

We are also stepping a toe into eventing having a  joint venture with Ally Walton.  Special K was purchased in 2019 and is being ridden by JP Sheffield.

Dynasty wins at Saumur CDI

May 5th, 2016

Saumur CDI*** – Half Moon Dynasty’s first international – Mike did a super job of guiding her round to wins in both the Inter A and Inter B. Great to be out and about again!

Dynasty Inter 2 Debut

July 28th, 2015

Half Moon Dynasty put a smile on everyone’s face – Hartpury PL was her first outing since the Nationals last September and her first go at Inter 2. While a bit confused by the new routine, Mike helped her round for 71.62% and a ticket for this year’s Nationals!
